>>Hello everyone and welcome to Sumi's Smart Picks. I'm Sumi Das and each week I'll tell you about a clever product that in one way or another helps us live cleaner, greener lives. My pick this week is perfect for warm summer nights spent outdoors; the Soji Solar Lanterns from Allsop. We have two styles; modern and silk effects. These lanterns are eco-friendly in two ways; they have built in solar panels and they use LEDs. The silk lantern style ships flat like so. The setup is pretty simple; all you have to do is insert this wire support frame which I'll do right now.

Pause The wire frame helps it pop up and hold its shape. Now once you've done that, you just have to put them in the sun to charge up; about four to six hours in direct sunlight for maximum brightness. But even if you have a collection of lanterns like we do, they're not going to give off a lot of light. Think of it as sort of mood lighting, ambiance; not any light that you can read by. Also if you don't like the light quality of LEDs, these lanterns may not be for you. Remember that LEDs sort of have this bluish hue to them. They don't give off a warm romantic soft glow. We had a few problems getting some of these lanterns to work properly and also charging them up. But they're so pretty, we just love the look of them. They almost inspire me to clean up my yard and throw a garden party; almost. That's my pick for this week; Soji Solar Lanterns from Allsop. Check back next week for more.
