Rumbler: Sirens you can feel

July 21, 2011  |  Length: 00:00:35

Drivers and pedestrians often can't hear traditional sirens from approaching emergency vehicles. The Rumbler creates low-frequency tones that penetrate solid materials and enable people nearby to feel siren sound waves.

what about people living nearby?
Can you imagine what it will be like for people living near a fire station or a busy highway?

rolling thunder
I can.t even see the rectangle- but then, NoScript locks sites down pretty well with Firefox.

effects? try a bass-blasting car's thumps, only with the speakers *outside*.

Lacking a follow up system
I have tried using three Browsers, AOL, Firefox and IE8 to see this video. None of them show anything except a black box; no video. Please have someone fix the problem so your readers can view the stories.

This happens way too many times with your videos.

It's viewable with Chrome OK
I have Chrome and there's no problem seeing the video. Have to say though that you haven't missed much! All this modern technology when really the old style UK 1940's bell is STILL more audible and doesn't really affect nearby residents.... Ah well, such is progress.

Rumbling Sirens
If cell phone microwaves can fry our brains, then what will a "rumbling siren" do to our nerves?

It seems like there should be a better way to do this...
Maybe if you could direct the sound at a specific vehicle that was not responding? I always thought it would be good if emergency vehicles transmitted a low power FM signal and all cars would be required to have a receiver. When the car detects the signal, a light would come on on the dash. Of course it would take a 100 years to get something like that into all, or even a substantial percentage of cars on the road...

I am sure that with sirens
I am sure that with sirens that you can feel, it will help to reduce the ever increasing number of accidents that we see everyday!! But as someone has rightly observed, won???t it be a nuisance for people who have to listen to the irritating noise that we heard in the video? Has this siren being used anywhere and what is the initial reaction of the public?? People would need to use soundproofing systems to keep it out of there apartments.I am sure that it has it has it advantages and disadvantages!!
