Lit Motors unveils concept, all-electric, fully enclosed motorcycle

It reminds me a lot of the Myers Motors NMG (formerly the Corbin Sparrow). I would love to have one of these for my daily commute to work. (Although I live in a place with a lot of steep hills; I imagine that would bring the 150 miles between charges down to 25 or 30 miles!)

The gyro clearly solves the problem of not falling over at traffic lights without putting a foot down, though I have to wonder how it affects the handling.
I also recall issues with stability with full-fairing motorcycles, which is why we don't see fully-enclosed racers althouth the drag would be less.
It still looks cool, though.

If you want a real electric bike, right now, that will handle a commute just like a gas-powered 250, try the Zero.

Now, shave 10% off the target price, make it 20 times as big so you can fit the spouse, children, lumber, etc. inside out of the weather, while keeping the gas mileage under 50 m/g and you might have something worthwhile.

He's not trying to make a multiple person vehicle. He improving on a single person vehicle. Its not a bad design simply because it doesn't perform a function it isn't meant to perform. That is like saying a baseball bat is a only good start because it doesn't cut down large trees very well.

Neither the claims, nor the figures add up. When I've seen a full-size prototype swerve through cones, survive a sideswipe without falling over and keep running for 150 miles of normal driving, THEN I might believe that these claims are not just 'pie in the sky'. But even if such a machine could be made to work as claimed, the price is ludicrously optimistic and the amount of batteries and other 'stuff' required for a fully enclosed electric vehicle simply will not fit in the space available. AND there's not nearly enough steering lock! PLUS it's hard to believe that Mr Kim could call his scooter 'C1' when that is the very name that BMW gave to their much-vaunted safer-scooter over ten years ago! (So safe that it was exempted from helmet laws in Europe). He obviously doesn't have any knowledge of the motorcycle industry and the many attempts over the years to make motorcycles safer. I could go on, at length, with other examples.
And as for that ludicrous cargo scooter, where is the rider supposed to put his legs when it has that giant box on board?! And in any case, I've carried bigger loads inside and on my stock Suzuki Burgman! PNB

I too have doubts about enough space for the batteries... On the C1, ever ride one? There's a reason it didn't sell enough to keep it going.. If you don't mind gas, the Ecomobile rocks - and no tipping over at low speeds. If Mr. Kim does get this done, it might be interesting but I bet it will have to cost 30K rather than 15.

The demonstration with the tire hitting the frame seems to suggest that the vehicle won't stay upright. It doesn't stay vertical and slide as was claimed. Why was the demo cut so quickly rather than showing it regain balance?

Needs a hook on top , so when you get splattered in traffic they can just lower the the whole thing into the ground and save a bunch of trees. Ever seen a smart car get hit, I have , I'll stick with my f150 and a real bike.

It is obvious you really have not seen a smart car get hit. I have a friend in Minneapolis MN, that hit a truck at 65 mph. The car saved her life. She broke her wrist and opened the drivers door and walked away. Photos are on the smart car forum, not the photos of the chevy hr crushed between the two trucks that everyone seems to pass on.

Seventy years ago my father bought me an encyclopedia called "Cassels Book of Knowledge". In one volume was a picture and description of a train engine that ran on a single track supported by a gyroscope. This fantastic picture is still clear in my mind.

How can anyone get a patent for this concept half a century later. This is fraud.

NIce for people who don't like riding a scooter in the rain and does seem to add stability in any condition. At 16 thou, I don't see how it's going to compete. Nice that it's electric, but at that price, I'd rather ride the bus.
