Great idea for light work
Can't believe, though, Ms. Sumi's comment about using the bottle for water, too. Doesn't make a bit of sense, given the purpose of the lock (how and where it is used, etc.). Same feeling about some of her other "but" comments for other products.

>> Sumi Das: Hello, everybody. Welcome to Sumi Smart Picks. I'm Sumi Das, and each week I'll tell you about a clever product that in one way or another helps make our lives a little easier. My pick this week: the Bottle Lock from Kuat. It looks like a water bottle, but it's actually a bike lock that fits in your bottle holder. The cable is coiled around the inside of the bottle. Just pull on the end when you want to use it, and then twist the top when you want to retract it. There's even a compartment on the bottom where you can stash your key. Now, Kuat scores major points for the original design, but we have to confess, we were kind of hoping this would function as a real water bottle. Granted, that would make it kind of hard to clean, given that it has this coil. Now, this 8-millimeter cable may not be the strongest deterrent for bike thieves, but we did read some reviews online that suggest strategically combining it with a U-lock for beefier security. Of course, that means that you have to carry another lock with you. But if this is enough protection for your bike and you don't want to look like a bike messenger, with a chain lock slung across your shoulder, it's a good solution. That's my pick for this week, the Bottle Lock from Kuat. Check back next week for more.
