Airport checkpoint of the future

Why do I think putting travelers in risk categories would cause a huge amount of controversy? Something tells me some people who aren't high risk would get put there, and be very angry about it; the converse could happen with worse effects.

Some countries profile. Those countries seem to have almost no incidents at all. I believe Israel profiles very heavily for example. The USA ought to profile, and too bad if some people are offended. I do not have the right to "not be offended".

I quit flying because of all the idiotic cattle-inspection procedures which made me unhappy because I am zero risk. Furthermore weapons get through all the time and we know it. Now the news was about implanted bombs. I suppose they will be using high powered x-rays in the next scanners or stripping and looking for stitches, and checking orifices. People have had enough of it but most are just too polite to make a fuss. I now drive everywhere or have electronic meetings and video conferences and it's far more pleasant.

Of course we should continue to profile. Assets are not unlimited. You use your assets to best advantage. If any inspection time/machinery/personnel are left over after profiling, well, of course, let's use those extra resources for random checks.

How can the objections to profiling be explained? The "profilable" passengers are getting on the same airplane as the other-than-profilables. Aren't they concerned, too, about the Nut Factor? If not, well, I don't want them on my plane! [You'll note that I do not identify myself as one of the other-than-profilables.] Catch the signifiance of that? Huh?

Seriously, wouldn't you expect a TSA employee to "profile" a bomb-toting, furrin-language babbling, wild-eyed and other-than-Bible-holy-book waving individiual attempting to board? What is that, other than "profiling?" It would be an easy profiling to make, yes, but it's a profiling none-the-less.

Please, let's spend our limited time and resources on making air travel as simple, easy, cheap and SAFE as possible. I demand that every effort be made to make travel safe for everyone, especially each and every one of the "profilables" who is temporarily inconvenienced so that ALL of us, to include those profiled, are as safe as our limited TSA assets can permit.

Life already is too short for anything less than that. If our, say, Muslim brothers and sisters are offended by that, I'm sorry. I offer my sympathy. I also offer my support in any program they might want to initiate to convince fellow-believers that the Koran does not promote the slaughter of nonbelievers and innocents in the name of Allah (PBUH).
