Wind energy involves the use of wind turbines to convert kinetic energy into mechanical energy that is used to produce electricity. Turbines can be used for applications large and small, from battery charging and auxiliary power to grid-connected "farms" for commercial electric power.
The U.S. wind power market -- one of the fastest-growing in the world -- could see its expansion derailed by three factors, including an expiring tax credit that used to enjoy bipartisan support.
