Smart grid
The term "smart grid" refers to a conventional power grid with a layer of digital technology applied on top of it to monitor and control electrical transmission and distribution. Two-way digital communications equipment allows granular control of nodes on the grid, such as consumer appliances, to save energy, boost efficiency and increase reliability.
