RE: The future of...remote controls
The future of remote controls is already happening and it is from a remote source via fiber/satellite/wireless to you and the devices in your home. The electrical company can already control your household appliances, including your computers through the electrical wiring. Remote brain interfaces that you have no choice over are next. The opportunities are obvious with more intuitive interaction, but so are the dangers and they are not being presented truthfully.

Stupid idea for TV remotes...
Can you imagine vacuuming and turning on the tv, etc... or have
someone else walk in front of the set and change channels? I can
see me watching a game and scratching my head or jumping up
and down and.... oops the channel changed at the most crucial
minute. This type of technology would only be valid at close
distances and extremely controlled environment where you there
wouldn't be unintentional gestures. Watching tv in my house is
not one of those environments. -
