What you need to know: Pedalite KPL200

We like:
That they're easy to fit; almost effortless to use; tough
We don't like:
That the grip's on one side only; the slightly excessive weight; the expensive price tag compared to reflectors
SmartPlanet judgement:
Cyclists will have to decide for themselves whether the Pedalites are an exciting safety innovation or an unnecessary 'pimp my ride' accessory. They work reliably, will be fun for kids, and are better than nothing if you're without traditional lights in an emergency. Serious cyclists, on the other foot, will miss having clips, cleats and grip on both sides of the pedal, and may resent the slightly spongy handling.

SEAT Ibiza Ecomotive
We're psyched about how cheap this energy-efficient car is, and suitably impressed by the solid handling
Lexus RX 400h
If you must drive an SUV, make it this one -- at least it's fun to drive and comparatively economical on fuel
FUJI Track 2007
This road bicycle by US bike maker FUJI comes with an aluminium stem, drop-down handlebars and racing-style saddle
Smart Ed
Brilliant, no compromises proof that 100 per cent electric cars can compete with petrol cars
NICE Mega City
A great green car that's fun to drive and has looks that'll appeal to more people than its G-Wiz rival -- even if it does lack punch and cost too much
