What you need to know: Freeplay Summit Wind-up Radio

Tags: solar, radio
We like:
The rugged build quality; the multiple bands; robust winder; long battery life
We don't like:
Not much at all, but if we're being picky the buttons are a bit fiddly
SmartPlanet judgement:
With digital auto-scan, 30 presents, four wavebands, an alarm clock radio and a solar panel, the Summit is a fully featured radio even before you get to the unbeatable wind-up dynamo that will keep the music playing wherever you are in the world. You may well be able to get better standard multi-band radios for less, but few will be as satisfying to use, or as well built as this one.
