What it is
A powerful solar panel without a battery

Editors' Score

What you need to know: Global Solar Sunlinq 6.5W

We like:
The powerful panel; that it's small and light; that it's the only charger with cigarette lighter adaptor
We don't like:
No battery; no choice of output adapter
SmartPlanet judgement:
This charger has its eyes on the road, serving up large dollops of solar power to 12V gadgets. But without a battery or a choice of power tips, anyone travelling without a car should look to one of the smaller, smarter chargers out there -- such as the PowerMonkey, Freeloader or Solio.

Roberts Wanderer Wind-up Radio
It's not the most efficient wind-up we've seen, but it's compact and performs well
Rhino Powerplus Wind-up Radio
Besides the misleadingly rugged looking casing, this radio does what it needs to, and won't break the bank
Freeplay Summit Wind-up Radio
This multi-band wind-up is the sturdiest we've tested, performs well and even has a solar panel
