What you need to know: United Pepper Lili Webcam
We like:
The look; the concept; the overall environmentally friendliness
We don't like:
The price; low light performance; restrictive cable length
SmartPlanet judgement:
Lili the webcam bucks the trend for computer gadgets normally found cased in plastic. Its manufacturer, United Pepper, has created a fair trade, ethically sound product using plenty of renewable materials, which is fantastic. It's a shame then that such a fun, well-meaning product won't excite the computer nerds. It's relatively expensive, fiddly to install and performance is poor in low light, making it more computer toy than practical peripheral. But if you're after a good, basic webcam and care about your ethical footprint, it's the perfect choice.
