The popper fastenings on the One Size Organic nappies worked well -- our baby didn't leak
Typical price £9.25

Posted: 07 March 2008 by Simon Munk

The main attraction of these one-size nappies is that you can fold them over on themselves to suit a newborn baby or use them on their biggest fastenings to fit a toddler. So one set of nappies will see you through about two years before potty training.

You'll still need two or three sizes of waterproof wrap, however. But when you consider that you might need 15-25 nappies and just three or four wraps, the Mother-ease One Size nappies will definitely save you a significant sum.

The only downside of the One Size design is that when the nappy is folded over on itself the bulk looks a bit absurd on a tiny baby. In fact, they look not unlike a Weeble. If you're bothered by this, you can always choose Mother-ease Sandy's nappies, which come in two sizes and were also impressive. They're slimmer-fitting and the highly elastic edges are effective at preventing leaks.

In our test, we found the One Size nappy to be absorbent and it didn't leak. The popper fastenings on the wrap (which is sold separately for £8.50) work well and are sufficiently adjustable, and inside there are two further poppers that can be used to attach an optional snap-in booster pad. The advantage of being able to remove the booster is that the nappy is less bulky and dries faster without it.

The nappy is also available in an identical design in bamboo. And there are two types of wrap -- Airflow with poppers and Rikki with Velcro. Mother-ease wraps are probably the best around, and there's nothing to stop you from mixing and matching.

They've got excellent eco and ethical credentials, too, as they're made in a wind- and water-powered factory in Canada with US-sourced organic cotton -- which carries the Canadian Organic Certification, the equivalent and are shipped to the UK to avoid air freight. Whew!
