We love the milk and the philosophy behind it, but would have liked a snazzier jug-design and perhaps a more thought-through eco pack (but having spoken to Calon Wen, we're confident it's coming).

There is no denying that we've got a bit of a crush on the Calon Wen organic dairy co-operative. Who could resist a bunch of Welsh farmers with a passion for the environment and a good sense of humour? After all, these were the farmers behind the Fancy a Farmer campaign. The co-op consists of 20 farming families, and pays the farmers a good price for their milk -- which is supplied to Rachel's Organic dairy, among others. It was the first dairy to get the Soil Association's Ethical Certification, which means we consumers can be sure farmers, workers and the local community have been well looked after. The co-op now also offsets all its transport emissions and processes the milk using a green tariff, and the farmers are also working on getting their own renewable energy sources.
