Best vegan beauty products

Although using dead cows and horses for soap might not be the norm anymore, some of us still like to know for sure that our body care products and cosmetics don't contain animal-derived ingredients and haven't been tested on animals.
Many body care manufactures guarantee that their products haven't been tested on animals and that none of the ingredients has had anything to do with any animal -- ever. Theoretically these products can be classified as vegan and many of the beauty products we feature on SmartPlanet will be vegan in this way.
The easiest way to be 100 per cent sure is to check whether the product carries the Vegan Society logo. If it does, you don't have to check the company's animal testing policies or the ingredients list for one as the Vegan Society has already done that for you.
It's good to know that when the Vegan Society talks about animals, it means all animals -- vertebrates and multi-cellular invertebrates. And rest assured that when it looks at a product, it scrutinises every ingredient as well as the finished product for animal testing and animal-derived ingredients.
Our favourite Vegan-Society-approved beauty products include Lavera's volume mascara, Spiezia's body scrub, Saaf's face serum, Organic Apoteke's face gel and Inika's powder foundation.
We're also happy to have found out that we even have a choice when it comes to Vegan-Society-approved sun lotions. Both Green People's and Lavera's sun creams sport the Vegan Society logo.
