What you need to know: Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo

Tags: natural
We like:
Its performance; Aveda's green credentials; the recycled bottle
We don't like:
The price; the possible toxicants it contains; the smell
SmartPlanet judgement:
This is a proper salon shampoo that does the job better than most. What makes it even better is that it's made mostly from natural ingredients by a company that has an impressive environmental track record. To be perfect, however, it shouldn't have sold out to Estée Lauder, which has been linked to animal testing. It also should have been completely free of any possible toxicants and the price could've been a wee bit lower.

Origins Organics Nourishing Face Lotion
We like how it makes our face feel smooth, but we don't like how strongly it smells -- and while the organic ingredients are incredibly attractive the price tag isn't
Yes to Carrots C Through the Dry Spell Body Butter
A paraben-free body butter with natural ingredients.
Spiezia Lemongrass and Marigold Body Scrub
It's really expensive, but it's also a great product made by an extraordinary company
Origins Foaming Face Wash
A foaming face wash by Estee Lauder's eco-minded brand, complete with 73 per cent organic ingredients including Aloe Vera, olive oil and clove
The Body Shop Shea Bath and Shower Cream
What's all those fragrance ingredients doing in this bath and shower cream? We like the ethics (minus L'Oréal), but wanted more of the natural stuff
