Green People Vitamin Shower Bath Review

Green People Vitamin Shower Bath
Typical price:
£8.50
We like:
The certified organic ingredients; Green People's ethical creds; how well the foam cleans
We don't like:
The slightly medical smell
SmartPlanet judgement:
Yet another top-notch Green People product -- it's great quality, feels clean and pure and boasts a good amount of organic ingredients. While we see the positive side of its faint, strange smell now, we don't think you'd want to feel like you're being treated for a nasty rash every time you have a shower. That faint medical odour will likely keep it off the mainstream shelves for the time being, which is too bad.

Review:

This organic shower gel has a cloudy colour and the smell resembles that strong, medicinal smell hospitals have. But that's only at first, when you pour a tiny bit of the gel out in your hand. As soon as it's mixed with water and foams onto your skin, the smell -- while very faint and fresh-- is a bit more herby.

The scent of the Vitamin Shower Bath is really the only thing we're not too happy about. Then again, we appreciate that we don't have to worry about a dubious 'parfum' on the ingredients list. And also, when we moisturise after our shower it means we can use a nice, scented moisturiser without mixing different aromas and smelling strange.

Once the gel bubbles up into a foam it's positively lovely. It's a compact foam, which cleanses rather than just sudsing up and looking pretty. Contrary to other 'cleansing' shower gels we've tried so far, this one doesn't dry out our skin at all, which is a bonus when we're in a hurry and don't have time to moisturise.

We don't feel there's cause for concern looking at the ingredients list. Green People's products never contain parabens and most of the ingredients in this product are natural. We like the fact that although the product is not certified organic by the Soil Association, 77 per cent of the ingredients are organically grown.

We are also impressed with Green People on the ethical front. All its products are made by hand in the UK and the company donates ten per cent of its net profit to environmental and cancer charities. The company doesn't use ingredients tested on animals and this particular product carries the Vegan Society stamp as an extra assurance that it hasn't had anything to do with animals ever.

This is a high quality shower gel with a great amount of organic ingredients in it. At £8.50 it's more expensive than Boots' own brand shower gel, but is on par with other natural shower gels. While we can now see the benefits of a scentless -- or strangely scented -- shower gel, we're worried Palmolive addicts might not like this. Once you've used it a couple of times, though, the quality speaks for itself.
