Green People Self Tanning Lotion Review

Green People Self Tanning Lotion
Typical price:
£15
We like:
The lack of harmful chemicals; the organic certification; the non-streak aspect; the colour; the ease of application; that it's not sticky and doesn't smell like we've burnt ourselves lying on a sun-bed
We don't like:
That quite a bit comes off on our bed linen
SmartPlanet judgement:
If you don't mind smelling slightly of cookies and having a few light-brown shades on your sheets, this is possibly the best it gets when it comes to self-tan lotions. It's natural-looking, easy to use and chemical-free. In short, it's great.

Review:

Green People claims that this self-tanner will be the least streaky, sweetest smelling and best self-tan experience of your life. Having tried a vast variety of self tan lotions over the past years, we must agree.

While it is possible to end up with a few streaks on your legs, you'd have to be extremely sloppy to do it with this self-tanner. As we've never been able to apply any self-tan lotion or spray without getting zebra-striped legs, we're very pleased to say that the first three times we smeared Green People's product on our legs they looked naturally tanned and even. The fourth time, ankles and shins turned unevenly darker than the rest of the legs, but we were in a bit of a mad rush when applying, so it doesn't really reflect on the product.

Made in the UK without synthetic chemicals, which are normally in abundance in ordinary self tan products, this lotion has 88.57 per cent certified-organic ingredients. Rosehip and sunflower oil make it dry relatively quickly and it's not nearly as sticky as many self-tan lotions. This is a clear benefit for people like us who are too busy to walk around the house naked for an hour every other day, waiting for the lotion to dry before dressing.

The sweet smell Green People refers to has been described as a "cookie smell" by people close to us. Although there are sexier scents than cookies, it's not too bad, and in our opinion it's definitely better than the burnt-skin smell most other self-tanners have.

The only slight downside is that you shouldn't really apply it before you go to bed. Even when you feel it's dry, quite a lot will come off on the sheets. Or your pyjamas. Not only is this a waste of a great lotion, it also makes your bed smell like cookies -- and turn a brownish colour.

Green People donates 30p per sale to Penny Brohn Cancer Care, making it worth every penny. On another ethical note, Green People's formulations and products are never tested on animals and most of the products carry the Vegetarian Society stamp.

If Green People can supply enough, this one really has the potential to go seriously mainstream and be loved by every pasty woman (and possibly man) in this country.
