Jason Citrus Satin Shower Body Wash Full Review

According to Jason's blurb, this shower body wash is supposed to "make our bathing experience a new pleasure". Well, it didn't for us. For research purposes we did have a bath, which we'd normally avoid (for environmental not hygiene reasons, you understand), and yes, Jason was right -- it did get very foamy indeed. But that was about it.
We've also used the body wash when showering and it does the job, removing daily dirt without drying out our skin. Ultimately, though, it's a run-of-the-mill body wash with an unpleasant, overly sweet smell and strange, clotted consistency. On the plus side, the ingredients list does include some natural ingredients -- and one organic -- and leaves out laureth/lauryl sulphates and parabens.
But while it says "Pure, Natural and Organic" on the label -- and Jason has a reputation for being a 'natural brand' -- we're a bit disappointed to find benzyl alcohol, which has been linked to neuro-toxicity, on the ingredients list. We would also have liked a more detailed explanation of 'natural colour' and 'fragrance oil blend', as well as more than. There is an ingredients glossary on Jason's website, but unfortunately it does not contain all the ingredients used in the company's products.
What we do like, though, is The Jason Promise: "We avoid using animal by-products, synthetic colours or fragrance and harmful chemicals in all our products. Additionally, we do not engage in any animal testing in the development of our products." And all Jason products do carry the Leaping Rabbit logo, which is an assurance to consumers that neither the product nor its ingredients have been tested on animals. On top of that, it was made in the US, which ensures that labour conditions were regulated by law and workers got at least a minimum wage.
Jason's body wash comes in a 900ml bottle with a pump, which helps us use less soap. Unfortunately, though, it's not possible to get a refill, which means that although we can recycle the bottle and pump, we waste a pump for every new bottle we might buy. At around £8 it's good value for money, but we would have paid a few extra pennies had it contained slightly more organic ingredients.
