The Prius is old news, even the Honda Civic Hybrid is well-known enough not to raise any eyebrows and let's be honest -- who can afford a Lexus? So you've probably been wondering when other car-makers would start making hybrids already. Well Volkswagen started making noises about its Golf TDI Hybrid in March, but it felt like a teaser. Now, the German car-maker has unveiled some more pictures of the model and is saying it will start testing in 2010.

Still a long way off, and still just pictures, but since I was a kid I've always been excited by new car models coming out, especially if they're green. Although it might look a little like an ordinary Golf (it's certainly better looking than VW's concept Up! Blue), under the bonnet the TDI Hybrid is certainly different. The system used to power the car is called 'Twin Drive', which means it has both a 122-horsepower diesel engine and a 82-horsepower plug-in electric motor with a lithium-ion battery.

When i was a child I was fascinated by cars. I loved the shapes more than anything and it was the 20's and 30's that appealed most. wonderful wings and sweeping profiles. I was not impressed by Cugnots steam car which ran on "Steam" and as far as I can see, Wood rims with solid rubber. We quickly progressed? to Internal combustion and Air filled Rubber........ It is a flippin long time since then and we still run on Internal combustion and air filled rubber! don't be fooled by so called "Improvements" or eco bull, Cars are still monumentally un-eco bring back the Pony and Trap.

Pinnacle Journey 1.0 2008
Cheap and cheerful -- the Journey hits the value bullseye. And doesn't end up a horrible compromise in doing so.
Mezzo d-10
Too costly, particularly compared to its d-9 sibling. But despite that, this is the state-of-the-art for folding bikes -- fast, light, practical.
Puma Glow Rider
The emperor's new bicycle -- all marketing and no trousers. Over-expensive, handles and folds poorly, doesn't glow well enough, and is stealable despite the weird cable-cum-downtube.
Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
