If you're unlikely to make the Eden Project's green car show by 31 May, Green Car Guide Live! could be for you. Billed as "the UK's largest green motor show", the event takes place on 12 June 2008 at Liverpool's Arena & Convention Centre and promises to be a jamboree of low-carbon cars.
Eden's Sexy Green Car Show is tough competition as it's in its second year running and has big-name sponsorship from Co-Op Insurance, but Green Car Guide Live! has a few aces up its sleeve. In addition to the cars, the promise of a rally version of the Honda Civic Hybrid (review), Lexus' high-end LS600h hybrid (review) and BMW's low-carbon 118d have got the SmartPlanet team hot under the collar. The show will feature 36 different 'greener cars' in total, with brands including Toyota, Saab, SEAT, VW and Smart.
There's also the intriguing unveiling of a new technology apparently capable of capturing CO2 from a vehicle and turning it into biofuel using algae -- and then using that biofuel to power the car. Far-fetched? Sounds like it, but we'll have to wait and see.
Tickets are free so long as you register online in advance.
