Electric cars are the only real option for stopping carbon dioxide emissions from the exhaust pipe, and thus preventing global climate change. But as of today, there are few local dealers you can visit to drive an electric car away today (the G-Wiz and Mega City being the exceptions). Things are changing, though, and here is a selection of new electric cars we've seen at recent auto shows.
Nissan Denki Cube concept
Nissan takes its existing Cube city car and fits it with an electric power train. Japanese automakers are well-positioned to build electrics, as most have small city cars to use as a platform. According to Nissan, the Denki Cube concept gets a 100-mile range from its lithium ion battery pack, and has a top speed of 75mph.

I would like to buy one of these now. I don't want to wait 2 or even 5 years. I only commute 57 miles per day and need to be able to go 65 on the highway. I would rather spend my $500 per month (for gasoline and an oil change) on electricity than on gas.

It's good to see car manufactures getting their act together on electric vehicles, of course the next step is actually selling them at a reasonable price for a reasonable looking car now. I'm sure in this day and age the market must be huge !!! Well at least one will be sold to ME !! (UK)
