New super-charged G-Wiz i hits 50mph

G-Wiz i

As big fans of the fully electric and zero emission G-Wiz, we’re psyched to see maker GoinGreen has unveiled the third generation of its cult car -- the G-Wiz i.

GoinGreen has obviously taken the criticism of the previous two G-Wiz cars to heart. The G-Wiz i features a new crash-tested steel frame, disc brakes and an increased top speed of 50mph, making it 5mph quicker than its older siblings (which you can watch in action in this video). Other changes include a tweaked instrument panel, a slightly curved windscreen to give the driver a fraction more room -- our previous experience of the G-Wiz is that you're right up against the screen, so that's good news -- and a 3.5mm input so you can hook-up an iPod for tunes.

Just like the previous models, the G-Wiz i makes brilliant sense both from an environmental and financial perspective if you're a Londoner. With free parking in Westminster, no Congestion Charge, no road tax and free charging points around the city, the only cost -- after the initial investment -- is that of green electricity tariff.

If you've got £8,900 spare, you can place your order for the new, zippier G-Wiz now -- but delivery won't be 'til next February. The older AC version remains on sale.
