Nearly two-thirds of us still throw electronics in the wheelie bin, a new survey says. The study from Comet comes as the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment law -- designed to stop us putting e-waste in landfill -- prepares to celebrate its first birthday on 1 July. And this ain't the only survey saying we're still ignorant of WEEE.
While the Comet poll says 68 per cent of us admit to putting e-waste in with household waste, the figure of 17 per cent of people never recycling electronics is down from 47 per cent in 2007's pre-WEEE era.
But WEEE Ireland backs up Comet's survey that we're still not getting the message, reporting that 16 per cent of individuals are still not recycling e-waste.
Then there's this week's Dell survey, which says one in five small and medium businesses still don't have a clue what it means to them.
Finally, I've been reading reports that seven WEEE schemes are potentially non-compliant because of paperwork.
