Solar power is free power, and while we may not have a lot of it in the UK right now, you can still make good use of what little sun there is. The new Solio Magnesium Edition charger works in the same way as its predecessor -- fold out the three solar panels and the internal battery will charge up, then you can top-up your gadgets with free, green electricity.
Unlike the original version, though, this charger comes in an attractive, solid magnesium case. This makes it more robust, which is good news because the longer a gadget lasts, the more green it is. The charger comes with a host of adaptors, so you should be able to connect to most popular mobiles and MP3 players, and the makers claim you should get two full phone charges or 20 hours of music playback from a fully topped-up Solio.
The Solio Magnesium Edition is available from Ethical Superstore for £99.95, and comes with all the cables you'll need to get going, a bag, a wall charger for those days when there really is no sun and a Solio branded pencil which you can pop through the centre of the charger to make a stand.
If you don't need the latest and greatest version, then the original plastic Solio is still for sale and has now dropped to under £50.
