PURE add new green tech to EcoPlus range

DMX-20 is PURE's first EcoPlus micro system

We've seen their energy-efficient Chronos II, now PURE are expanding their range of EcoPlus DAB radios even further. Customers can now choose from portable and clock DAB radios, a DAB radio with integrated iPod dock and the first microsystem in the EcoPlus range, the DMX-20 (pictured above).

"The only environmental impact our customers want to have this Christmas is a little noise pollution as they blast out the festive hits," says PURE general manager, Paul Smith. "With a full range of radios and a new CD-micro system with reduced environmental impact we're glad to be able to help them give a present to the planet."

The EcoPlus range aims to cut its environmental impact in a number of ways; they're more power efficient for a start, both when in use and when on standby. They're also made with recycled materials where possible, and are finished with water-based varnish far less harmful than some other coatings. Some of the radios also feature rechargeable batteries, which avoids disposable alkaline cells being thrown in landfill sites.

The packaging, too, has been given some thought. They ship with minimal packing to reduce waste and shipping emissions, and it's made of 70 per cent recycled cardboard as well. The instruction manuals (which we can never bring ourselves to read) are printed on 100 per cent recycled paper using soy ink.

"With EcoPlus, we are proud to be leading the way in reducing environmental impact in the consumer electronics sector. We will ensure that EcoPlus continues to evolve to further decrease our impact on the environment," says Smith.

Admirably, the company has opened itself up to criticism and advice, telling us that it welcomes further suggestions being sent to ecoplus@pure.com.

The EcoPlus range now covers the Move, ONE, PocketDAB 1500, lan DX-40, lan RV-40, EVOKE-1S, EVOKE-2XT, EVOKE-3, Oasis, TEMPUS-1S, Siesta, Chronos II, Chronos CD, Chronos iDock and DMX-20.

It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off

This British-made folding bike has small wheels but goes for big money -- and is built for practicality
