We're all in favour of celebs talking frankly on green issues. But Withnail and I star Richard E Grant surely takes the ethically produced biscuit for his recent comments on food.
"It comes down to a basic thing," the stage and screen actor said. "If you eat shit you have a shit life and die early." We really can't put it more succinctly than Richard, who was asked by Latest Homes magazine if "eating organic [is] really that important?" He was chatting at the Soil Association's eco celeb-packed Feast of Albion event last month.
The organic food-themed bash took place at the The Guildhall in London and featured the likes of Jemima Khan, Sophie Dahl, Tom Parker Bowles and more. To cut down on food miles, the vast majority of the grub was reportedly sourced from within 50 miles of the capital, including mutton from Prince Charlie's Highgrove Farm and nettles picked in London by foodie chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. We've written a handy guide on how to recreate the Feast's organic spread at home.
As well as fronting Argos ads, Richard E Grant will be popping on our screens again soon in a WWII satire movie, Jackboots on Whitehall.

that's a vintage quote... especially considering his most famous character's trademark was drinking antifreeze! :-)
