I heard on the radio this morning that we're all meant to be bringing biodegradeable pegs to Glastonbury this year
Apparently one of Eavis's poor cows died after swallowing some old metal ones!

Did you see the Metro this morning? The amount of CO2 that the US and China produce is shocking! What is the point of the rest of the world reducing our CO2 levels until these two countries do something about theirs.

What about banning tents at Glastonbury altogether? People buy a cheap tent (probably made by children in China in an extremely polluting factory) just before they go, treat it like a bin for a week and throw it out afterwards. What a waste!
What's wrong with sleeping under the stars?

Re CO2 in China...
It is scary, but just bear in mind that a lot of our CO2 (through consumption) lands in china's co2 basket. It's unethical of us to 'move our co2' to china in the first place and then afterwards blame them for having the highest co2 levels in the world!!! Just wait til the chinese start consuming like we do in the west and their co2 levels will REALLY go through the roof!

yeah let's all sleep under the stars and balance out China! (or go deluxe and get one of those ridiculously OTT myhab 'tents, http://www.myhab.com/)

Why are those hand dryers in pub toilets more environmentally friendly than other solutions? Some of them have stickers on them saying that they are better for the environment but has anyone actually done any research into that?

Not sure if this is right place to ask, but can anyone recommend any good real nappies? (the reusable ones) Wife's about to give birth next month and I'm clueless ;-)

"What's wrong with sleeping out under the stars?" Er, it almost always rains? But you're right, it's a terrible waste. They'd save money in the long term buying a good tent and taking it home, but of course the point is they can't be bothered.

The great hand dryer v paper towel debate's been running for a while. I've not seen any credible reports on the subject, and neither has the Guardian's eco expert, Leo Hickman: http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2006/mar/14/ethicalmoney.ethicalliving

I'm a big fan of Dyson Airblade hand dryers, that dry your hands by the simple method of setting them on fire.

Bit gutted Gordie B got knocked back by the EU on VAT-cutting for eco white goods today... shame - I thought Europe was meant to be green!

Where does everyone stand on the Food Miles vs. supporting Fairtrade farmers overseas issue? As a newbie, I don't feel I know enough about the merits of both - anyone like to educate me......

those Dyson Airblades are quite cool. The only place I've ever seen them though are in that car park on the western edge of Richmond Park. Not quite worth a visit just for the driers, but the deer are worth a visit

They also have them in the Living Room near the Ice Bar. Do some good rums in there too!

Start with babycentre for an overview of reusable nappies

If you decide not to go reusable, there are a number of biodegradable disposable nappies on the market - Moltex seem to be the most popular, although you do pay more than your average disposable and they can be hard to find.
