Video: Wayne Hemingway on eco design, folder bikes and the ButtButt

People News
Channels: People News Tags: cycling, vintage clothes, architecture

Wayne Hemingway should know a thing or two about design. With his wife Geraldine, he co-founded the Red or Dead label, which was ubiquitous in the 80s. Since his fashion days, he's turned his hand to all things eco, helping housebuilders green up their acts, creating the water butt that's shaped like a butt -- the ButtButt -- and judging ethical awards for the Beeb and the RSPCA.

We cycled up to Wayne's Wembley office to hear his views on everything from folding bikes to London's top vintage fashion shops. Hit play on the vid above to see what he has to say. This is part one of the interview -- part two's here.

Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
Brompton M3L Folding Bike
This British-made folding bike has small wheels but goes for big money -- and is built for practicality
Dahon Jack 2008 Folding Bike
Bigger wheels do mean better speed and stability -- but a bigger, more awkward folded form, too
Sony Bravia KDL-32V2000
You won't find a better TV for picture in its class, but you will find ones with superior green credentials
