In brief: Porsche vs Ken and Fairtrade discounts at Waitrose

Ken Livingstone is having none of Porsche's legal action threats
Leisure News People News
Channels: Leisure News, People News Tags: fairtrade, congestion charge

On this ordinary Wednesday, we're happy to bring you a little excitement including the latest on Ken Livingstone versus Porsche, the government's stance on micro-generation, organic children's clothes from the US and discounts on Fairtrade goodies at Waitrose.

Ken snaps back at Porsche
Like many other non-greenies, Porsche is very unhappy about the Mayor's decision to charge gas-guzzlers more to drive in London and has threatened to take legal action. Ken Livingstone has hit back, saying: "No-one is allowed to throw their rubbish in the street and Porsche should not be allowed to impose gas-guzzling polluting cars on Londoners who do not want them."

Waitrose Fairtrade discount
Waitrose is helping us get ready for Fairtrade Fortnight, which starts next week, by giving us 20 per cent off selected Fairtrade products including SmartPlanet favourites like the Waitrose Organic Fairtrade Swiss Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts and Clipper Fairtrade Organic Green Tea.

Renewable-friendly government
The good news is that the government yesterday promised to look at how Britain could get more electricity from green micro-generation. The bad news is that it didn't give us any concrete promises.

Green baby clothes cross the pond
Now mumsnet.com has got one more organic children's clothes brand, Happy Green Bee, to talk about. The American company sells its colourful and fun clothes through Green Mums here in the UK.

Porsche could try and produce a competitor to the Tesla Roadster, then they could avoid the congestion charge altogether.

Pinnacle Journey 1.0 2008
Cheap and cheerful -- the Journey hits the value bullseye. And doesn't end up a horrible compromise in doing so.
Mezzo d-10
Too costly, particularly compared to its d-9 sibling. But despite that, this is the state-of-the-art for folding bikes -- fast, light, practical.
Puma Glow Rider
The emperor's new bicycle -- all marketing and no trousers. Over-expensive, handles and folds poorly, doesn't glow well enough, and is stealable despite the weird cable-cum-downtube.
Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
