In brief: last-minute Valentine's news

LA Jewellery Cupid Bracelet from Adili

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's getting to be your last chance to get that little something for the man or woman in your life. We've checked out the latest Valentine's pressie news:

The very last-minute gift
Thanks to ActionAid , last-minute lovers will not be caught out this Valentine's Day. Buy a pair of goats for a poor family in Mozambique, a cocoa tree seedling or a beehive on behalf of your Valentine and ActionAid will send him or her an e-card declaring your love -- and your noble deed.

Three in one at Adili
Get three in one if you get your Valentine something from ethical online retailer Adili. Firstly, feel good that everything you'll buy is either sustainably or ethically produced, and secondly, donate to charity without doing anything but shopping -- when you spend up to £50 at Adili's online shop, the retailer will donate £5 to its favourite charities, Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, Christian Aid and the Born Free Foundation. When you spend more than 50 squid, Adili will donate £10 -- split evenly between the three charities. And of course, you'll get a happy Valentine.

Secret Valentine at 'howonearth'
Another online retailer, howonearth, is here for the shy and traditional Valentine lovers. It'll send your present to your Valentine anonymously -- how romantic is that? Among possible pressies is the petroleum and GM-free soy Timothy Han Rose Scented Candles, Weleda's Wild Rose Gift Pack and the Massage Gift Pack, which contains Soil Association-certified massage oil in a recycled glass bottle.

No naff card
Share the Feeling Production makes Little Gift of Love or Lust bags in which your Valentine will find things like chili for spicing it up, a feather for tickling and teasing, glue (?!), love hearts and chocolate kisses. A little funnier than a card and they're all handmade in East London.

Pinnacle Journey 1.0 2008
Cheap and cheerful -- the Journey hits the value bullseye. And doesn't end up a horrible compromise in doing so.
Mezzo d-10
Too costly, particularly compared to its d-9 sibling. But despite that, this is the state-of-the-art for folding bikes -- fast, light, practical.
Puma Glow Rider
The emperor's new bicycle -- all marketing and no trousers. Over-expensive, handles and folds poorly, doesn't glow well enough, and is stealable despite the weird cable-cum-downtube.
Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
