Method launches skincare for kids and 'Squeaky Green' book

Household cleaner expert 'method' moves into skincare and literature

The maker of environmentally friendly home cleaning products, 'method', is turning its hand at skincare. Launching in the UK at the end of June, squeaky green method baby and method kids will be available at Boots only.

I have to admit I have a soft spot for method. I love its cleaning products -- not only do they work well and are kind to the planet but the design is funky and the descriptions are tongue-in-cheek. It's great to see they've continued it through to this range for kids and babies.

The five baby and two kids products are between 95 and 99 per cent derived from plants, and the designs look to be practical too -- the baby hair and body wash has a huge cap that can be used as a cup to help rinse your baby with clean water. I'm sure SmartPlanet's new dad Adam V will let us know whether it works well or not.

And method hasn't mucked around with the pricing, either -- they're all £5, across the board. Not the cheapest, but easy to remember.

And if that wasn't enough method news for one day, next month -- 28 July 2008, to be exact -- founders Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan are releasing a book called Squeaky Green. It promises to expose dirty little household secrets and explain how to keep your house clean without adding more chemicals to it.

I, for one, will be looking forward learning how to clean my oven without inhaling toxic fumes. Worth a tenner in anyone's book. Squeaky Green will be available at Waterstone's and other major bookstores from 28 July 2008, for £9.99.

Pinnacle Journey 1.0 2008
Cheap and cheerful -- the Journey hits the value bullseye. And doesn't end up a horrible compromise in doing so.
Mezzo d-10
Too costly, particularly compared to its d-9 sibling. But despite that, this is the state-of-the-art for folding bikes -- fast, light, practical.
Puma Glow Rider
The emperor's new bicycle -- all marketing and no trousers. Over-expensive, handles and folds poorly, doesn't glow well enough, and is stealable despite the weird cable-cum-downtube.
Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
