Ecover rival Simply creates sensitive skin laundry tablets

Simply Pure
Household News
Channels: Household News Tags: chemicals, laundry

The eco cleaning experts at Simply have cooked up a new 'Pure' laundry detergent for those of us with sensitive skin. The new tablets contain no perfumes or optical brighteners -- the petrochemicals designed to make clothes look 'whiter than white' but also sometimes cause skin irritation.

Like Simply's standard washing powder, the Pure one has earned the EU Eco-label and Vegan Society badge, plus it comes in a recycled plastic tub for full greenie points.

The verdict here at SmartPlanet is an overall thumbs-up for Simply's previous products. Check out our review of its Sensitive washing powder. One thing to bear in mind is that it contains phosphates, which can create an overabundance of algae -- killing other fish and aquatic life in the process. Simply argues that phosphate substitutes are even worse for the environment, however. Ecover's washing powder, by contrast, doesn't contain phosphates.

The new Pure detergent's on sale for £3.29 a tub now, though if you buy online you can snag one free when you buy four.

It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product

Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
