Unless your friends or family members swear by crystal goblets, we think wine glasses will be appreciated by most grown-ups. Especially if they come with a bottle of Fairtrade or organic wine.
We like the Grolsch goblets (Sol and Smirnoff ones are also available) and they're also the most green -- in more than one sense. Because the glass doesn't have to be treated, heated and re-molded, these glasses take 90 per cent less power to recycle than a traditionally recycled glass goblet would have. One pair can be bought from £10 at Green Glass.
If you are after a more subtle design, you should check out Greener Style's different ranges of wine goblets made from 100 per cent recycled glass (see image above). The Gelida glass with the curvy stem is our favourite at £18 for a set of three, followed by the Campanillo goblets, which cost £24 for three and the Kikura flutes, which are also £18 for three.
Traidcraft's 100 per cent recycled, Fairtrade wine glasses (above) made by a small glass-making factory in Bolivia are also lovely. We like the rustic look and knowing we're support around over 100 workers and used-bottle collectors when we buy these glasses. They cost £12 for four from Traidcraft's online shop.
