The East London Design Show (ELDS) opened to the public today. The event profiles Britain's top independent designers in product, interior and fashion, and provides a launch pad for many exhibitors.
"ELDS has become the place to spot design stars of the future," says the Design Show website.
There will be a range of interesting companies showing off their sustainable stuff, including Spinifex. The company, only founded in 2004, creates green household items -- like mug trees and message boards -- from innovative and recycled materials.
"Objects should be interacted with rather than owned. Instead of passive consumerism there is 'Think for your self furniture'," says the Spinifex website.
The best part of the show is that you can browse around it without even leaving the house. Log on to the website to see a list of exhibitors, and then if there's something that catches your eye you know it's worth while venturing out into the cold and paying the entrance fee.
The Design Show is being held in the Shoreditch Town Hall on Old Street, London, and is open from midday to 8pm on Friday and 10am to 6pm over the weekend. Entry is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and accompanied children under 16 get in free.
