Oxfam supporter Zoë Ball will be at Victoria train station tomorrow morning to help launch the Oxfam Unwrapped travelling gift stall, which is heading to four main London train stations in the run-up to Christmas.
The charity hopes the stall, which is staffed by green santas, will help to promote its campaign for "decent presents". There'll be 12 gifts available to buy in person, ranging from £5 to build a bit of a classroom to £100 for medicines & medical equipment -- to provide vet care for the goat pictured, you'll need a mere £17.
Zoë's involvement with Oxfam included a visit to Malawi this summer to see how Unwrapped gifts bought last December have been affecting people’s lives. She said, "In my eyes these are the real gifts that last. I’ve seen how the schemes work and I can tell you it makes a difference in more ways than you can imagine...I came back and told all my family, ‘no more tat! These are the Christmas gifts people really need!'" Zoe, we're with you.
Since its launch in 2004, over 1.2million gifts have been bought from Oxfam Unwrapped, benefiting people in 49 countries as a result. The catalogue has gifts varying in price from £6 to £1,700, from a bag of fertiliser to building a school.
So if you're going through Victoria station tomorrow morning, look out for the stall -- it'll be in the centre of the concourse -- and make a start on your Christmas shopping. You can also buy the gifts online or by calling 0870 410 5030.
