Ken urges Londoners to "repair our planet"

The Mayor of London (for the time being), Ken Livingstone, has a section on his website encouraging us Londoners to "repair our planet". The DIY Planet Repairs site offers advice and freebies, giving you room-by-room energy saving tips for the home, with fancy animation. Readers can also submit their own advice for cutting down on waste and emissions.

Another interesting feature is the 'Ask our expert' section. People can submit questions, and the Mayor's Office expert will research and write up an answer for you. Quite who this expert is isn't clear, but the answers seem helpful, and tend to refer to external sites where more information can be found.

Questions range from "Should we recycle plastic and paper as a lot of energy is used in the recycling process?" to the worrying, "Does the British government have plans to reduce the population rapidly if we reach a crisis?" As enthusiastic as we are about environmentalism, we won't be voting for a new mayor that plans to "reduce" us to save on carbon emissions.

There are also some freebies on offer, such as £100 cash back on home insulation, and a green concierge service where an expert will come to your home to give you tips on how to cut down on energy usage.

Not quite so green are the other freebies -- a set of Planet Repairs Top Trumps and a Planet Repairs toolkit that contains such vital environmental equipment as a mug, stickers and a four-minute shower timer. On the whole it's a useful website though, and the cash-back deals are a must for anyone thinking of adding some more insulation to their home.

Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off

This British-made folding bike has small wheels but goes for big money -- and is built for practicality

You won't find a better TV for picture in its class, but you will find ones with superior green credentials
