Halifax launches mortgages for green homes

Halifax has announced two new mortgages, only available for green houses -- those constructed by the most sustainable builders in the UK. The mortgages offer some of the best rates from Halifax, and are designed to increase the number of people making green credentials part of their buying decision when house-hunting.

"Our focus has always been on encouraging homebuilders and homeowners to be more energy efficient. Launching an exclusive set of products to support this is the next logical step," says Andrew Bowes, head of the new build team at Halifax.

The deals will only be available to customers buying a newly built house from Crest Nicholson, Taylor Wimpey, Countryside Properties and Berkeley Homes, which have been found to be the most sustainable large-scale builders in the country.

"Halifax’s new mortgage is an exciting development which should help stimulate future demand for low-carbon homes,” says Stewart Baseley, executive chairman of the Home Builders Federation, which has pledged its support of the new scheme, along with the WWF.

"The more we buy low-carbon, low-impact homes, the more lightly we can tread on the planet,” says Simon McWhirter, campaign director of WWF's One Planet Homes.

For more on the new mortgages go to the official Halifax site.

Halifax, Crest Nicholson and sustainability? Where was this 'ever so green' episode of relationship, more likely to be so misunderstood as it applied to our Family of five children in our own home, without any debt whatsoever? We kindly refer of course to our Shalom Family in Wales, evicted from our own home by Crest Nicholson, who at the time were able funded and invested in, by Halifax Bank Of Scotland, parent company of the Halifax.

Please 'Google' about for houseboat eviction, or Shalom Family Campaign for Social Justice, then perhaps we can all see a balanced view of the comapnies green credentials.

Happy New Year Everyone!

The Shalom Family Wales
