Copy-catting is big in fashion, we know that. From high street retailers and catwalk designers to fashion victims -- aka consumers -- we all do it. Normally there's a lot of hissing going on when it happens, but now two designers behind a new German ethical fashion label, Pamoyo, are set to change the rules of the fashion world by letting people copy their designs for free.
Going completely against the precious protocol of fashion, Berlin-based Pamoyo has released its designs under a Creative Commons license for non-commercial use. This means that as a fashion-lover, you can freely copy your favourite Pamoyo pieces yourself. The designers, Frans Prins and Cecilia Palmer, will even supply the patterns on their website soon.
If you're not the creative kind, don't worry about missing out. Pamoyo's trendy clothes are available online at reasonable prices -- from 25 euros for a top to 49 euros for a dress. It's all made from either recycled vintage fabrics or organic cotton and, for every piece sold, Pamoyo will spend two euros on social and environmental projects through the German organisation, Grass Routes.
Strictly speaking, you don't have to use sustainable materials for recreating Pamoyo's designs. But why not stick to the green spirit of the company and use that cool piece of fabric you've had lying around for ages or go to the charity shop and find something vintage? You could make your own Summernight's Dress or Shirt Deluxe and be a regular fashion cat.
