The fair trade fashion pioneer, People Tree, is celebrating World Fair Trade Day tomorrow by launching a limited range of dresses by renowned designer Bora Aksu and created by People Tree's fair trade partner, the Bangladeshi Swallows producer group.
We love the slouchy design of the three dresses -- they're a great example of how to combine fabulous fashion with fair trade. What's more, they've also brought together sustainability and fair trade. In line with this year's theme of the World Fair Trade Day, 'Fair Trade + Ecology', the fabrics are made from sustainable tree seeds, cotton and silk, and the dresses are dyed with natural dyes. They're handmade too -- eliminating the need for oil-intensive manufacturing.
The dresses will be available exclusively at online fashion retailer ASOS.com. The black silk dress with embroidery costs £150, the natural/chambray dress is £75 and the check dress is £65.
