Are you one of those culprits who chuck your old, worn shoes in the bin because you know the charity shop won't take them and it's just too much hassle to recycle them? Well, sustainable shoe company, Terra Plana, is making sure you have no excuses this month by inviting you to join its Shoe Amnesty drive.
The idea is simple. You bring your old shoes -- regardless of brand -- to one of Terra Plana's London stores before the end of May. The footwear company will then recycle all our old, smelly boots and stilettos, wrecked heals and all, with the European Recycling Company. As an extra incentive, you get a £10 voucher that you can use towards a pair of Terra Plana shoes if you find something that takes your fancy. Being regular TP shoppers, we're sure you will.
The European Recycling Company sorts the shoes and distributes them to traders and craftsmen in developing countries, who refurbish the shoes and sell them locally. For more info on Terra Plana, check out our review of the store's Haiti Boots.
