We've barely shed this season's winter outfits, but we're already getting excited about what to wear come the colder months. That's mainly thanks to organic clothing company 'howies', which has given us a sneak preview of its 2008 autumn/winter collection before all the designs have even been named.
We've got an inkling that howies' designers were looking forward to summer when they created the collection. Many of especially the women's designs are light, colourful, full of floral prints and short -- as in short dresses, skirts and sleeves. Our favourite, the tartan printed shirt dress (above), is a great example of the summery influence. The three-quarter-length sleeves on the blouse and the mini-skirt with built in braces are both made from 100 per cent organic cotton.
Our three other picks (below) from the women's wear collection are more geared for the cold. A real winter example is the Epic Cotton Jacket, made from organic cotton and as soft as a baby's bottom. Despite this, it's completely waterproof -- a quality obtained by weaving the waterproof coating material into the actual cotton fibres.
We're also really keen on the black skinny jeans, which are made from 100 per cent organic cotton. According to howies these will be available in store and online at some point during the summer (below with cardigan). And then there's the cardi. We're such suckers for howies' cardigans in general and this winter won't disappoint either, it seems. The ice blue one with cream polka dots made from 50 per cent bamboo and 50 per cent wool is our darling, but they also come in brown and cream should you so prefer.
On the men's side, we found the perfect tree-hugger outfit: a pair of 100 per cent organic, brown corduroys and a light green 100 per cent lambswool jumper (below). We love its contemporary design for making it look stylish rather than hippy-ish. A new version of howies' trademark 100 per cent organic jeans also caught our attention. The Paul Rimmer jeans are named after one of howies' sponsored skaters, who is a vegan and always rips off the ordinary leather label on the jeans pocket, which is why these merely sport an organic canvas label. To go with the jeans, we really like the chequered lumberjack-inspired shirts. They come in cream and red and are made from 100 per cent organic cotton.
And that's just a taster.
