In brief: organic beer from Carlsberg and a fair trade fashion avalanche

All Nixie's outfits are unique

We look forward to summer, there's no denying that, which is why today's summery beer, bag and jewellery news brought a little sunshine to our morning. We're also excited to see Ethical Consumer's butterfly spread its wings, and although children's label Nixie is already thinking about autumn and winter, we like the collection so much that we had to tell you about it.

Ethical Consumer magazine launches Best Buy Butterfly
This Friday Ethical Consumer magazine launches its Best Buy Label, which is symbolised by a butterfly logo. The aim is to make it easier for conscientious shoppers to avoid companies' greenwash, as only products or services from companies that consider ethics throughout their entire operation will get to sport the Best Buy Butterfly. Closer to home, you could check out our Green List of our top ten eco products this month, and look for our Smart Choice badge in reviews.

Vintage is not just for grown-ups
Children's clothing label Nixie has just announced its autumn/winter 08 collection of cute, bohemian outfits for kids (pictured above). All the clothes are made by hand from vintage fabrics and no two of them are the same. Just like kids.

Carlsberg makes organic beer
If drinking Carlsberg because it's the cheapest pint is not incentive enough for you to drink the brew, you might be pleased with Organic Denmark's news that the old world-famous brewery has just launched its first 100 per cent organic beer under the name Jacobsen Extra Pilsner. Bottoms up!

Fair trade summer bag
In good time for summer, Casa Copenhagen has created a range of pretty fair trade canvas bags. The turquoise and white one (below), looks like it'll go perfectly with a white summer dress. It's made according to IFAT standards and can be yours for £30.

Made goes to the sea
One of our favourite fair trade brands, made, has just launched a bracelet and a pair of earrings (below) made by hand in Kenya from brass and painted bone. They make us want to wear shorts and t-shirts and go walking along the seaside.

Fairtrade sample sale
If you happen to be in Brighton at the weekend and the weather is not quite summery enough to allow for hanging out on the beach, why not check out Fashion Made Fair's sample sale, which is on at the Fabrica Art Gallery? Fairtrade companies there include People Tree, Terra Plana, Greenknickers and many more.
