Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), the hardcore, sporty, environmental organisation that campaigns to free our beaches and seas from toxic chemicals, litter and nuclear waste, has launched a range of organic hoodies and t-shirts to fund its work.
We've had a look at the new creations and are impressed with both design and eco credentials. Not only is the cotton certified organic, but the SAS t-shirts and hoodies are also printed with certified organic ink. Our favourite is the yellow sunset t-shirt, which comes in both men's and women's sizes and costs £20.
Wendy Nicolson from Surfers Against Sewage tells us that besides being organic and fair trade, most of the men's yellow sunset t-shirts are manufactured in factories that only use sustainable energy generated from wind and solar power. The rest of the yellow sunset t-shirts and the army green t-shirts are also Fairtrade-certified and made from organic cotton from India, where SAS supports farmers who've recently gone organic.
And the best bit is that besides getting a great looking tee, your money supports organic cotton farming and cool surfers that clean our beaches.
The organic cotton tops complement SAS' other funding merchandise made from all sorts of eco materials, such as bamboo, hemp, jute and recycled tyres, CD cases and vending cups. The recycled polystyrene mug pictured below is just one of the products available in SAS' online merchandise shop.
The green organisation also emphasises that there's no need to burn carbon to go to beautiful faraway places for fancy photo shoots, and we must admit, the images from its Newquay photo shoot prove the point.
