Top models join EJF cotton campaign

It's the week for fashion and there's no prize for guessing it's not all ethical. But according to an announcement from The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) it's going in the right direction. Twenty top models, including Irina Lazareanu, Coco Rocha, Catherine McNeil, Caroline Trentini, Siri Tollerød and Behati Prinsloo, have put their names -- and bodies -- to EJF's campaign, which aims to eradicate child labour and harmful chemicals in cotton production.

Famous designers Luella Bartley, Christian Lacroix, Betty Jackson and Katharine Hamnett have designed a range of eco chic t-shirts around the theme of childhood to put focus on the millions of children forced to work in the cotton industry.

The prints are typical to the four designers and they look great on the 20 models, who sport them in photos that are on show at Estethica at London Fashion Week and on EJF's website.

We completely agree with designer Luella Bartley, when she says: "Cotton is something that we all take for granted, something that we all probably wear everyday without knowing the environmental damage and impact on poverty it has."

We're sure it's a long way away before we'll see ethical cotton only on the fashion week catwalks, but at least we're getting closer. And with top models and designers supporting the campaign together with the likes of Lily Cole, KT Tunstall, Erin O'Connor and Peaches Geldof, EJF's campaign can't go wrong.

The t-shirts are available from EJF's online shop for £30.
