Even if she's off to a fancy dress party for NYE, it's more than likely that the lady in your life would love a new party dress for Christmas. They are as essential to life as mince pies are to Christmas (although the relation between too many mince pies and party dresses may not be so harmonious). We've picked a couple of great eco-ethical frocks -- so you don't have to.
Alchem1st's simple but glam spaghetti strap Dante dress and scarf (pictured above) will make the lucky wearer light up at any Christmas or NYE party. The fact it's designed in Indonesia and made from locally sourced materials by workers who get paid a fair wage only makes it better. It's priced £212 from Adili.com.
We also really like People Tree's black pleated dress for being sexy and cute at the same time. It's made from organic cotton poplin and is of course Fairtrade, like all People Tree's clothing. At £85 you can't really go wrong with this little number.
If you feel like going all out, then there's our favourite: the Debbi Little Parachute Dress (pictured below). It's sure to steal everybody's attention. The dresses, available at Equa for £240, are hand-made in London from nothing less than original 1950s recycled parachute silk. Now that's special.
