Today new vintage fashion label Amoosi launched its website, which means that we can get our hands on some super-stylish pieces, such as the sailor dress and the coffee and cream clutch bag before Christmas. If we remember to order to before 19 December, that is.
Amoosi belongs to the 'Salvage Set' of sustainable fashion labels as all its clothes are made from reclaimed vintage fabrics while the bags are made from old leather jackets. Everything is designed and hand-made in the UK by bright young things.
Nina Flower, who set up Amoosi with Jessica Sherlock, tells SmartPlanet: "Jess and I wanted to create a sassy and edgy brand selling items that our friends would want to buy. Although the core of Amoosi is driven by our ethical techniques, it is style and design that will create Amoosi's future."
So far, so promising. We really like the Amoosi style, which is a bit different from other green fashion brands. We are particularly keen on its creative take on classics, such as the tweed jacket with tails. And it just is nicer prancing around looking fabulous knowing that we've helped save some fabric from going into landfill and no children have been exploited to make our outfit. The second time around anyway. Let's put it this way, if we had a grand to spend on designer clothes, we would much prefer to spend it at Amoosi than Armani.
Generally December is turning to be a great month for us eco-ethical fashionistas. Besides the Eco Boutique at the Eve Style Show we look forward to the Fashion Made Fair Christmas sale next weekend with all the big names including People Tree, Terra Plana, Amana, Howies, GreenKnickers, Tam and Rob, Kuyichi, Wildlife Works, Stewart and Brown and Enamore and newcomer, Amoosi.
Fashion Made Fair takes place at Truman Brewery from Thursday 13 December to Sunday 16 December.
