Green your Christmas: socks

Socks - a gift that'll get used every day
Fashion News
Channels: Fashion News Tags: green your christmas, organic cotton, fairtrade

Want to give a present that will be used every day? Then 'ethical socks' are the way to go. Okay, so they may be the epitome of a boring present, but for scared-by-change Dads or waste-not siblings, they're ideal -- practical, comfortable and you can never have enough of them.

But don't waste your money buying novelty Christmas socks that they'll wear one day before stuffing to the bottom of their drawer until next year. Stick to plain socks they can wear every day and make sure they're Fairtrade or organic (both, if possible).

M&S do a good pair of Fairtrade-certified cotton socks in black or beige, made with 90 per cent cotton. At £4 for two pairs this is a great stocking filler or 'add on' present, and a guaranteed winner. Stock up online or in your local M&S store -- and if they don't stock them, ask why not.

Another option for home ordering is Natural Collection, which touts a considerable range of sock options, including some very cute kids' ones and some strictly straight work ones too.
