Ekyog ethical clothing launches London store

A selection of Ekyog's cool eco designs

Ekyog may sound like festive dairy drink, but it's actually a French ethical clothing label that's about to open its first UK boutique. On 6 December, Ekyog will be launching their new store at 186 King's Road, London.

The company was founded four years ago, specialising in organic cotton clothes for women and babies, and has since branched out into chic fashion. There's still nothing in it for us lads, though.

Ekyog's range has some interesting items, such as the silk-bamboo pullover. Because silk requires a lot of water to cultivate, but bamboo is very efficient, the company has blended the two fabrics together.

Through this combination, and by introducing some clever irrigation improvements to boot, the company has reduced the footprint of the luxurious fabric significantly. This sort of indulgence, with the peace of mind of ethical production does push the price up, though. The blended pullover is £112.

As well as clothes, the company has also expanded into cosmetics, making a range of face cream (£20) and baby oil (£23). All of the company's cosmetics are free of paraben, PEG, silicone and ingredients from animal origins, so are safe for vegans and are organic, too.

"Nature offers us always new secrets. We are constantly looking for and developing higher performance materials that respect the wearer as well as the environment," says the Ekyog website. "This Innovation aims to create beautiful eco-designed products."

The website also includes a handy production diagram showing "How do we make an Ekyog organic garment" as well as an clear list Ekyog's eco principles, including a fair trade, sustainable policy with their cotton growers.

Pinnacle Journey 1.0 2008
Cheap and cheerful -- the Journey hits the value bullseye. And doesn't end up a horrible compromise in doing so.
Mezzo d-10
Too costly, particularly compared to its d-9 sibling. But despite that, this is the state-of-the-art for folding bikes -- fast, light, practical.
Puma Glow Rider
The emperor's new bicycle -- all marketing and no trousers. Over-expensive, handles and folds poorly, doesn't glow well enough, and is stealable despite the weird cable-cum-downtube.
Weleda Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15
It's a very good, honest sun lotion and we appreciate that -- we're excited about Weleda as a company, but not overly so about this particular product
LG 32LG5000
Stylish and with good performance, this is a nice TV, especially at just over £400 -- but the high energy use is a turn off
