Ethical fashion sneak preview for 2008

Despite running around London's Soho, dodging Christmas decorations and early-bird present shoppers, SmartPlanet felt very light and summery last week. Why? Well, the cream of ethical fashion in the UK had decided to give us a preview of their spring and summer 2008 collections -- and boy, did they manage to make us look forward to the warmer season!

We've picked some of our favourites for a little spring/summer ethical fashion round up, below.

Norwegian organic, Fairtrade and carbon neutral fashion label Fin showed us a great coral knitted dress (above, £175) and jersey tie dress (not pictured, £150). Fin's also got some fab all-year-round jeans, made from organic and Fairtrade pima cotton (below). With followers such as Keira Knightly and Kate Bosworth, we know we're not completely off the mark when we say Fin's fashion is one of the most stylish ethical brands out there at the moment. Fin spring and summer clothes will be available from Natural Collection.

People Tree definitely didn't disappoint either. We especially liked the Fairtrade and organic yellow satin poplin skirt (below), which is hand-printed in India (£60).

Another People Tree beauty was also a plant-print organic and Fairtrade dress (below) made by mute women deemed unfit for marriage in India, from the Assisi Garments group. People Tree's spring/summer collection will be available from the end of February 2008.

As always, Adili managed to get together a huge variety of upmarket ethical fashion pieces and we particularly look forward to welcoming summer with cute Stewart+Brown tops (below) and dresses. Most Stewart+Brown cotton clothes are organic.

Finally, Terra Plana will make sure we've got a sustainable foot to stand on with its cool sandals and brightly coloured shoes for when we're ready to get rid of our winter-boots. Accoring to Rachel Walters from Terra Plana, the £75 Aquila strappy sandal (below) received the most attention at the preview day. It's made from vegetable tanned leather and the sole is made from rice husks and recycled rubbers. Bring on the brighter days!

A three pack of ladies made from bamboo.
Origins Organics Nourishing Face Lotion
We like how it makes our face feel smooth, but we don't like how strongly it smells -- and while the organic ingredients are incredibly attractive the price tag isn't

It's a good hand wash with a green twist and great mainstream appeal

It's a local hero for careful painters, but not the best choice for rough-and-tumble houses
